Welcome to Open to Israel, a blog about the highs and the lows of life in the Middle East. In August 2011, my family and I moved to Raanana. It is my third time living in this land but my first time with my eyes open to the bad as well as to the good. This time, I packed everything I knew I needed to bring, such as Ray Ban wrap sunglasses, several bottles of 60+ sunscreen, dozens of Costco’s Kirkland Albacore white meat tuna in water, journals and diaries that open from left to right, a Nook to be able to read the latest releases in English, along with the less obvious, the things I have never brought here before: a sense of humor and an open heart. I hope you enjoy reading about my everyday adventures as I navigate my way through my new life.
